Konstantin Lomykin (1924-1993) was a soviet painter, graphic artist. Member of the USSR Academy of Arts. People’s Artist of Ukraine.

A brilliant representative of the South Ukrainian impressionism. Author thematic paintings, works of genre and landscapes.

K.Lomykin born in Glukhov, Sumy region. In 1951 he graduated from the Odessa HU (studied with L.Muchnik, N.Shelyuto, N.Pavlyuk). Member of the Odessa organization of the Union of artists of USSR since 1953.  Lived and worked in Odessa. For a long time was Chairman of the Odessa branch of the CFS. Party-Union (since 1951), foreign (1964) exhibitions. Solo exhibitions: Odessa (1953, 1974), Kharkov (1954), Kiev (1956, 1957).

K.Lomykin was a very prolific artist and he worked in many genres - landscapes, portraiture, thematic paintings, still lifes and nudes. When creating his art objects, the artist also used various types of graphics.

The artist often turned to the image of ballerinas, thus as if conducting a dialogue with E. Degas on the theme of dance, a favorite of both artists.

Lomykin has repeatedly portrayed ballerinas of Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre. Many of his works depict ballet dancers in their constant, painstaking effort in mastering the art of dance.

A beautiful colourist, K.Lomykin was a master of media. The majority of his works are done in oil, watercolour and pastel, his specialty. In his pastels K. Lomykin attains an especially high degree of mastery; his bold strokes skillfully shape the form and his colour is rich in the intensity of tone. A great lover of life, K.Lomykin lived and breathed painting, and he left behind an enormous heritage, making a significant contribution to the glory of Ukrainian Art.
