KENNETH MACMILLAN 1929 -1992
British ballet dancer, classic of British choreography. MacMillan's works still form the basis of the repertoire of the Royal ballet of great Britain. In 1946 he became one of the founders of the Sadlers wells ballet theatre. During his creative life, he created more than 40 ballets, winning worldwide recognition. From 1970 to 1977 - artistic Director of the Royal ballet of great Britain.
Among his ballets: "Nora", "Invitation", "sacred Spring", "Manon", "Mayerling" and others. In 1965 he staged the ballet Romeo and Juliet to the music of Sergei Prokofiev with Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev in the lead roles. He worked with the prominent artists of the ballet: Margot Fonteyn, Lynn Seymour, and Marcia Haydee, Vivian Durant, Darcy Bussell, Alessandra Ferri, Rudolf Nureyev, Irek by ahmedovym and many others.
Knight of the order of the British Empire (1983), was awarded the Lawrence Olivier Prize (1992, 1993).
