GEORGE GORDON BYRON 1788 - 1824
George Gordon Byron known simply as Lord Byron, was an English poet, peer, and politician who became a revolutionary in the Greek War of Independence, and is considered one of the historical leading figures of the Romantic movement of his era.
Нis first school was Aberdeen Grammar School. He later moved to Harrow where he had an undistinguished school life. He represented Harrow in the first Harrow vs Eton Cricket game in 1805. After Harrow, he went to Trinity College Cambridge. From 1811-1816 he settled in England.He became a leading light of Regency London and became well-known for his literature and socialising. He is considered one of the first modern-style celebrities. His wife even described the phenomena of «Byromania» – to describe the intense interest in his life and activities.
With many popular works, active life and physical beauty to his credit, Byron was considered to be the perfect image of a romantic poet-hero. He is best remembered for his brief poems «She Walks in Beauty», «When We Two Parted», «Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage» and «Don Juan». It was due to this exemplary work that he had largely influenced European poetry, music, novels, operas, and even, paintings. He is regarded as one of the greatest British poets and remains widely read and influential.
